Padel rackets: specs, scores and verdicts

Every racket in the catalog gets the same treatment: we read at least two independent reviews from players and testers, line their findings up against the maker's specs, and blend them into one set of scores on a 10-point scale. The overall score weights the sub-scores you see on each page. We do not accept paid placements and the score never changes because of a sponsor.

Current models from the main brands, covering the latest model years, with specs, photos and our verdict. Right now that is 6 rackets from 1 brand, and we add more every week.

A round racket. Its balance sits low, towards the handle, so it swings easily and the sweet spot sits in the middle of the face, which forgives off-centre hits. Teardrop rackets are the middle ground, and diamond rackets put the weight and the sweet spot high for power, which only pays off once your technique is consistent.

Most adult rackets weigh 355 to 385 grams. Lighter rackets, around 355 to 365 grams, are easier on the arm and quicker at the net. Heavier ones, 375 grams and up, add power on the smash but tire the shoulder sooner. If you have had elbow trouble, choose the lighter end and a soft core.

Yes. A soft EVA or foam core absorbs more of the impact, gives a bigger sweet spot and a gentler feel, and suits control players and anyone with a sensitive arm. A hard core returns more energy on a clean hit for extra power but punishes mishits. Our sweet-spot scores reflect that difference.
